KNOW THE MATH

How it works

This quick estimator models a uniform grid with boxes placed upright, allowing a 90-degree rotation across the layer. It does not calculate mixed arrangements or account for overhang, strength, stability or handling constraints. Cargo height excludes pallet thickness.

Formula

Boxes per layer = max(⌊pallet L ÷ box L⌋ × ⌊pallet W ÷ box W⌋, rotated equivalent). Estimated boxes = minimum of geometric and payload limits.

Worked example

A 120 × 80 cm pallet with 40 × 30 × 20 cm boxes fits up to 8 per layer using a uniform orientation, before height and payload limits.
